Check it suits you firstBefore your first night
Four questions. Thirty seconds. Worth it.
Mouth tape is only for people who can breathe easily through their nose. Answer honestly.
Is your nose blocked tonight, from a cold, hay fever or anything else?
Have you been told you have sleep apnoea, or has anyone noticed you stop breathing, gasp or choke in your sleep?
Do you have asthma, COPD or any other breathing condition?
Have you had alcohol, sleeping tablets or anything sedating tonight?
Answer all four to see your result.
You are good to try it.
Start with the daytime test below before your first night.
Not tonight.
- Blocked nose: skip the tape until your nose is clear. A nasal strip may help you breathe more easily in the meantime.
- Sleep apnoea or pauses in breathing: please do not use mouth tape. Talk to your GP; there are effective treatments, and a diagnosis matters for your health.
- Breathing condition: check with your GP or asthma nurse before trying it.
- Alcohol or sedatives: leave it for another night.
The dry-mouth morning
You breathe through your nose all day. Then you fall asleep.
When your jaw relaxes in sleep, especially on your back, your mouth can drift open. You do not notice at the time. You notice in the morning: a dry mouth, a dry throat, a glass of water before anything else.
The tape does one small thing about that. It keeps your lips together, so breathing carries on through your nose.
What it does
It holds your lips closed. That is all it does.
A single strip across your closed lips holds them together as your jaw relaxes. Your nose does the breathing, as it does all day. A peel tab means it comes off in one easy movement in the morning.
Small enough to become a habit.
- 01
A gentle hold, not a seal.
Soft tape made for skin holds your lips together without pulling your face tight.
- 02
Off in one movement.
Peel slowly in the morning. No sticky residue on your lips, no sting.
- 03
Thirty seconds at bedtime.
Clean, dry lips, one strip, lights out. Thirty nights in a pack, enough to find out properly whether it suits you.
What the evidence says
We would rather tell you than oversell it.
Research on mouth taping is limited. A few small studies found less snoring in some mouth breathers, but a 2025 review of all the studies rated them as poor quality, and experts urge caution.
What is not in doubt is simpler: tape keeps your mouth closed. Many people report waking with a less dry mouth. We sell it as a habit tool, not a treatment for snoring or anything else.
How to use it
Try it awake first. Then three steps.
Daytime test: wear one strip for 20 minutes while you read or watch something. If you feel anxious or short of breath, take it off. Mouth tape is not for you, and that is fine.
- 01
Clean and dry.
Wash and dry your lips and the skin around them. No lip balm; it stops the tape sticking.
- 02
Close and apply.
Close your lips naturally, without pressing them together, and place the strip across the centre. Press gently from the middle outwards.
- 03
Peel in the morning.
Lift the edge and peel slowly. If your skin feels sensitive, a little warm water loosens it.
“What if I need to breathe through my mouth?”
Then take it off. It comes away in one movement, and your hands can reach it half asleep. That is also why it is only for nights when your nose is clear, and why we ask you to try it awake first.
If you ever wake feeling you cannot get enough air, stop using it.
Before you start
Not for anyone with a blocked nose, sleep apnoea or suspected sleep apnoea, a breathing condition, or after alcohol or sedatives. Never use it on a child. Keep out of reach of children.
An honest comparison
Why not just use tape from the first aid kit?
Some people do. It is made for a different job.

Start with your nose
Tape keeps your mouth closed. It cannot open your nose.
If your nose often feels narrow or stuffy at night, start with Peak Airflow. The strip lifts the sides of your nose open from the outside. Once breathing through your nose feels easy, add the tape.
Questions, answered
01Is mouth tape safe?
For most adults with a clear nose, used as directed, it is low risk; the usual problems are skin irritation and feeling anxious. It is not safe with a blocked nose, a breathing condition, suspected or diagnosed sleep apnoea, or after alcohol or sedatives. Never use it on a child.
02Will it stop my snoring?
We do not claim it will. It may help some people whose snoring comes from mouth breathing; snoring from the throat or a blocked nose is unlikely to change. If your partner notices you stop breathing or gasp in your sleep, see your GP before trying anything.
03What if I have a beard or moustache?
The tape needs clean, smooth skin to hold. It may not stay on over a moustache.
04Can I use it if my nose is blocked?
No. Skip it on any night your nose is blocked. Peak Airflow may help you breathe more easily through your nose, and if it is blocked most nights, speak to a pharmacist or your GP.
05Does it hurt to take off?
It should not. Peel slowly. If your skin is sensitive, a little warm water loosens it.
06Is it for children?
No. Keep it out of reach of children.
07What if it is not for me?
