Lights out
04:52. The sun is up. You did not ask it to be.
A flat mask lets some of that in at the nose.
Peak Blackout does not.
Why masks end up in the drawer
Most people do not give up on darkness. They give up on the mask.
A flat mask presses on your eyelids, so every blink drags the fabric. It sits clear of your face at the nose, so light comes in from below. It gets warm, it creeps up in the night, and at some point you pull it off half asleep.
The idea was right. The shape was wrong.
Built around the four reasons masks fail.
- 01
Nothing on your eyes.
Each eye sits in its own moulded cup, so the fabric never touches your lids or lashes. You can blink without anything pressing back.
- 02
No gap at the nose.
The nose bridge is where flat masks leak. The shape follows your face there, so light from below stays out.
- 03
It stays where you put it.
A flat adjustable strap rather than elastic that stretches and slips. Set the fit once and it holds when you turn over.
- 04
It does not trap heat.
Less fabric in contact with your face means less warmth building up through the night.
When the room will not go dark
Darkness you can take with you.
- June, 04:52
Sunrise, hours before your alarm.
- 23:30
Your partner is still reading. You are not.
- Row 32, overnight
The cabin lights come up for breakfast somewhere over Greece.
- 14:00, after a night shift
The whole day is bright outside the window.
How to wear it
Set it once. Then just put it on.
- 01
Fit the strap.
Put the mask on, then fasten the strap around the back of your head, above your ears. Snug, not tight.
- 02
Settle the cups.
Make sure each eye sits in its own cup, then press lightly at the nose so the edge seals.
- 03
Check for light.
Open your eyes. If you see light, shift the mask slightly or tighten the strap one step. Once it is right, it stays right.
“I always pull masks off in the night.”
That usually comes down to one of three things: pressure on the eyes, heat, or a mask that has slipped and now lets light in, so it feels pointless. Peak Blackout deals with each one: moulded cups for the pressure, less contact for the heat, a set-once strap for the slipping.
The first night with anything new on your face feels different, so give it a few nights before you decide. If it still is not for you, you have 30 days to return it.
An honest comparison
Three ways to make it dark.
Each has its place. Only one comes with you.

Questions, answered
01Will it press on my eyes or lash extensions?
No. Each eye sits in a moulded cup with space in front of the lid, so nothing rests on your eyes or lashes.
02Does it block all light?
On most faces, yes: the shape seals at the nose, where flat masks leak. Faces differ, so if you see light, adjust the angle or tighten the strap one step.
03Will it be too hot?
The eye cups keep most of the fabric off your skin, which keeps it cooler than a flat mask pressed against your face.
04How do I wash it?
On a gentle machine cycle inside a laundry bag, or by hand, with the strap fastened. Air dry, no tumble dryer. Store it flat rather than folded.
05Will it fit my head?
The strap adjusts from 45 to 65 cm, which covers most adult heads.
06It smells a little new. Is that normal?
Yes. The foam is shaped with heat, which can leave a faint smell at first. Leave it somewhere airy for a day and it goes.
07What if it is not for me?
You have 30 days from delivery to return it. Change-of-mind returns pay their own postage; faulty items are replaced free.
The sun can get up whenever it likes.
